Bitter Weekend for the Crocodiles – Two Consecutive Defeats

The Crocodiles Hamburg have endured a disappointing weekend. Following Friday evening’s 5–3 home defeat against the CET Beach Devils Timmendorf, the Crocos also suffered a 5–3 loss away to the Lauterbacher Luchse in the OSWENO Cup on Saturday.

Strong Spell Not Enough Against Timmendorf

On Friday evening, the Crocodiles hosted the Beach Devils from Timmendorf for a derby clash at Eisland Farmsen. In front of 1,476 spectators, the visitors got off to a flying start, taking a 1–0 lead after just a few seconds through Aleksi Kettunen.

However, the Crocodiles refused to be rattled and battled their way back into the game. Miguel Boock equalized in the 20th minute. The home side then stepped up their game in the second period: Maksym Andriienko put the Crocos ahead 2–1 on the power play before Konstantin Redinger extended the lead to 3–1 in the 30th minute.

Shortly before the second intermission, Nate Chickering pulled one back for the Beach Devils to make it 3–2. In the final period, Timmendorf eventually found the equalizer through Yannic Lavoie. In the 55th minute, Hampus Magnusson completed the visitors’ comeback and gave them the lead. Jonah Henderson sealed the 5–3 victory with an empty-net goal.

Despite holding a two-goal lead at one stage, the Crocodiles ultimately came away empty-handed. Particularly frustrating was the fact that the team had put itself in a strong position during the second period but was unable to hold on to its advantage.

No Success in Lauterbach Cup Clash Either

Less than 24 hours later, the Crocodiles faced their next challenge. On Saturday evening, they traveled to face the Lauterbacher Luchse in the OSWENO Cup. Once again, a hard-fought contest unfolded, with the Hamburg side initially keeping pace with their opponents.

The Crocodiles headed into the first intermission with a 1–0 lead. After the hosts equalized, Konstantin Redinger restored Hamburg’s advantage in the second period, making it 2–1.

However, the Luchse turned the game around within a matter of minutes in the final period. Despite another goal from Hamburg, the Crocodiles were unable to fight their way back into the contest. The scoreboard ultimately showed another 5–3 defeat.

The Crocodiles therefore finish an exhausting weekend of back-to-back games without any points. Two defeats, each with five goals conceded, highlight the need for the team to regain greater defensive stability in the upcoming games.

At the same time, the team must build on the positive spells from both matches and perform more consistently throughout the full 60 minutes.

A huge thank-you goes out to all the Crocodiles fans who made the long journey to Lauterbach on Saturday to support us in person! Your dedication is anything but something we take for granted, and it means a great deal to the entire team.
