Mathias Rakell joins the Crocodiles Hamburg as a versatile Swedish forward. Born in Stockholm, Rakell developed through the youth system of Huddinge IK before continuing his development with Nacka HK and Flemingsbergs IK, where he quickly showcased his offensive talent.

The left-shot forward then made the move to North America, joining the Brooklyn Aviators in the USPHL Premier. There, he established himself as one of the league's most productive offensive players, highlighted by an outstanding 2022/23 season in which he recorded 102 points in just 41 games. Between his stints in the United States, Rakell also gained further experience back in Sweden, including time with Karlskrona HK and his hometown club, Huddinge IK.

In recent years, Rakell has continued his career in Germany, suiting up for TuS Harsefeld, CE Timmendorfer Strand, the Ratinger Ice Aliens, and VfE Ulm/Neu-Ulm. The 23-year-old now brings valuable experience from German hockey to the Crocodiles.

Capable of playing both center and wing, Rakell is known for his vision, puck control, and excellent playmaking ability. With his versatility, offensive creativity, and hockey IQ, he is expected to add another dimension to the Crocodiles' attack and play an important role in the team's success.
