Ivan Savchenko brings a wealth of international experience and offensive firepower to Hamburg. Born in Ukraine, the forward spent many years playing in the country's top professional league, representing clubs including Generals Kyiv, Donbass Donetsk, and HK Kremenchuk. During the 2015/16 season, he established himself as one of the league's most dangerous offensive players by recording an outstanding 80 points in 41 games for Generals Kyiv. Savchenko also made numerous appearances for Ukraine's junior and senior national teams.

During his time with Donbass Donetsk and HK Kremenchuk, Savchenko won multiple league titles and medals while also gaining international experience in the IIHF Continental Cup. For many years, the physically strong forward was regarded as one of the Ukrainian league's most consistent performers.

In 2022, Savchenko moved to Hamburg, where he spent the past three seasons with HSV Eishockey. The 1.90-metre (6'3") right-shot forward quickly made his mark with his scoring ability and strong offensive play. Over three Regionalliga Nord campaigns, he consistently produced impressive numbers and established himself as one of his team's key players.

Away from the ice, Ivan is also committed to developing the next generation of players. He works as a coach with the Hamburg Sailors, where he passes on his experience, passion, and team-first mentality to young talents.
